Dance Recitals
Each year, Keepsake Video produces recital videos for dance studios throughout the greater Houston area. The recitals are usually recorded using one or more professional digital cameras positioned to capture both:- close-up views of the dancers and
- the overall choreography of the recital piece
These camera perspectives are artfully edited together as ‘split-screens’ or ‘cross-fades’ and then duplicated onto DVDs. These videos are sent out directly to the parents/dancers by US mail – or they can be delivered back to the studio for distribution.
The typical time required for editing and duplication is about 4-6 weeks following the recital. Some dance studios have been using our services for more than 15 years.
Of course, most dance recitals occur in the months of May and June and these dates can fill up early – especially since many school-related events, graduations, weddings and anniversaries, etc. also occur in those months.
The retail cost of the videos is normally in the $30-$50 range. Pricing varies based on the length of the recital, number of cameras used, number of videos ordered, S&H charges, type of packaging required, how sales tax is handled, etc. Dance studios are required to pre-sell a minimum number of videos. Keepsake Video does not provide a sales table on the day of the recital.
Increasingly, studios are incorporating the cost of the video into their base recital fee so that all dancers receive a video keepsake of this very special event. This policy results in the most economical video for all and greatly streamlines the logistics involved for the dance studio.
